When we talk about “the silent scream” there are some screams that shake the world. And even there are some screams that no one can hear, the scream which lives in the heart of women.
When she endures pain without a word, When love start becoming a wound instead of warmth, and when she stays silent through betrayal. These are the screams that the world cannot hear, only women inner soul can hear it, it keeps resonating inside women heart, mind and soul, this are the “SILENT SCREAM” which are made up of Sacrifice,
every trauma, every frasturation, every touch that she wasn’t even ready for and she wasn’t wanted, every goodbye for which she was not ready, every “YES” that was forced weather it is for betrayal sacrifice sex anything, and even when women sounds “NO” it was all ignored.
In literature, especially feminist literature, this “silent scream” is never truly forgotten. A woman is taught right from the beginning that she should keep her mouth closed and she is just under the feet of a man, by suppressing the tears in her heart, she is taught to bear it silently, whether it is her own family members or her in-laws, they should keep doing as his man says, even if the man does wrong and tortures her, she should keep bearing it by wiping her tears with her mouth shut. It show the silent scream of women who suffer, but whose pain cannot be erased.
People in the world wonder what a woman does, nothing, but they does not know that a woman does everything that no one else can do. When a woman loves, she does it with complete intensity. The woman’s laughing, crying, speaking, eating, drinking, walking, wearing, everything seems to depend on that man, but it does not take the man even two minutes to cheat a woman.
Whatever happens to the woman after that, she does not tell anybody, she keeps quiet inside, sometimes out of fear of society, sometimes of family, thinking what will the people say, she keeps crying quietly inside, she keeps screaming inside, she wants to say a lot of things but can never say anything, the silent screaming that only her soul can listen to none of the other person she just shows a smile on her face and then she says only this that I am fine and she starts doing all the work like she the happiest one in the whole world.
Nevertheless, If a man loses his love or faces any trouble which he cannot bear, he consume alcohol, cigarettes and all the intoxicants but telling about it is a far fetched thing, even a judge cannot do anything, however, if a woman is facing any trouble, loses her love or while enjoying her happiness mistakenly only she consumes alcohol, cigarette or any intoxicants then the people outside the house later the family members only in the very first started calling her characterless, why if a man does it, it is right, if a woman does it she is characterless, is this the justice for women, this is the respect of women in our country.
If a woman wears short clothes or roams outside till late night or makes friends with boys or talks frankly, then it does not mean that she is characterless or that she has given license to a man for sex. Why even today our community is not safe for women, whether it is Delhi or Mumbai, Kota or Kolkata, why does only this news of women come that today she got raped, then tomorrow when she screams, why does no one hear this?
We are living in the world where nowdays women are equal to men but if we see from past till now there is no conclusion on “the silent scream as a feminist”.
