Srijita Seal, Siliguri : Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government during the meeting in Siliguri’s Kawakhali on Saturday afternoon, alleging that the central government’s funds for various development projects, including the funds for MGNREGA were misappropriately used by the Trinamool government in Bengal to fill the pocket of the ‘tolabaz’.

Modi slammed the Government of Bengal for being ‘anti-poor’, stating that despite the center sending funds for workers who have worked 100 days under the MNREGA scheme, the Bengal government allegedly created 25 lakh fake job cards to benefit the ‘tolabaj’ at the expense of the poor.

On Saturday from Siliguri, PM Modi criticized the Trinamool Congress regarding ration corruption. Modi commited to provide free rations for another five years to ensure no one goes to bed on an empty stomach. Congress, Trinamool, and CPM have opposed the provision of free ration. The ration that was sent in Bengal for the impoverished were looted.

Trinamool leaders and ministers are incarcerated for ration-corruption, while the central government initiated the Ayushman Bharat scheme to provide free treatment up to five lakh rupees for the impoverished. However, Modi lamented that TMC  hindered the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. Modi criticised the Trinamool government saying, over 14 lakh applications in Bengal for the Center’s provision of subsidized gas connections for cooking  under the Ujjwala Yojana, has been obstructed by TMC. He further said, the Trinamool appears indifferent to the populace’s plight, while prioritizing their own interests over addressing the people’s needs.

He emphasized the goal of building a ‘Vikasit Bharat’, meaning Developed India , and remarked that people across the nation are now identifying with the vision of progress under his leadership and saying ‘I am a part of Modi Parivar’.

Once again, as elections loom, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to address the demands of the Gorkhas. He accused the incumbent government for neglecting the hill people’s interests and solely focusing on land, he also emphasized, his administration is sensitive towards the Gorkha’s issue.

Modi addressed,’We have reached the solution to the problem of Gorkhas’.While Prime Minister Modi’s speech in Siliguri addressed the concerning issue of violence against women in Sandeshkhali, he failed to mention the problems faced by the tea industry in the region. Specifically, Modi did not address the matter regarding the closure of tea gardens, and the issue of illegally grabbing the lands of the poor .
