Asia’s richest person and Chairman Of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani, is tying the knot on Friday with businesswoman Radhika Merchant. Shortly, Vedic Hindu rituals will begin as part of the opulent wedding ceremony. The groom, along with the ‘baraat’, departed at 5 PM in the afternoon towards the Jio World Centre, the wedding venue. The ‘varmala’ ceremony will happen at 8 PM sharp, and around 9:30 PM, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant will exchange their wedding vows and take 7 pheras.
The grand preparations for this magnificent wedding have been underway for over a year. With glitz and glamour on display, Indians are marveling at the extravagance, surprising the whole world. Discussions and calculations estimating the wedding expenses have started with urgency. Several tinted comments are buzzing like wildfire regarding a post on Reddit. One post in particular is gaining attention worldwide, claiming the wedding costs approximately 5,000 crore rupees, which is just 0.5% of Mukesh Ambani’s wealth.
In that post, it has been commented that the expenses could sustain five generations of a family if spent wisely. One netizen’s comment reads, “I just read an article. If the Ambanis spend 3 crore rupees daily, it will take them 962 years to exhaust their wealth.”
Another individual observed, “5,000 crore rupees equals 600 million US dollars, an amount that could finance the Oscars ceremony in America, ten times .” It is widely acknowledged that Indians typically spent between 5% to 15% of their total wealth towards wedding celebrations. In a photo, it is seen that a red-colored box, engraved with the golden letters says “With the devine grace of Devis and Devtas, we celebrate the wedding of Anant & Radhika, With Best wishes ,Nita and Mukesh Ambani”. An employee named Tania Raj shared this photo and wrote, “A token of appreciation for working at Reliance.”
