SRIJITA SEAL, DESHER SAMAY

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of Bengal, has dealt a significant blow by doubling the allowance of Lakshmi Bhandar, causing a stir among BJP leaders.

The Padma Brigade faces a formidable challenge, as all their strategies are ineffective against Lakshmi Bhandar tactic of the TMC. Unless they develop a countermeasure, they may face potential electoral loss across Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. This has led increased activity from the Padma Brigade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the key figure in the party, has paid special focus to prioritize attracting female voters in the state.

During his visit to Bengal, Modi consistently lauded the strength of women, from Arambagh to Krishnanagar, invoking the spirit of female empowerment in the region. He likened the women of Sandeshkhali to the revered Goddess Durga, surpassing the objectives set by his party’s second-in-command, Amit Shah. Previously, Shah aimed for 35 out of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bengal, but after Modi’s address in Krishnanagar, he declared a goal of securing all 42 seats. Following Modi’s statement, pressure intensified on Bengal’s BJP leaders. Modi not only set a target for Bengal but also expressed confidence that the NDA government would secure over 400 seats this time.

Modi lambasts on the TMC from the Arambagh meeting, accusing the Bengal government for corruption, failing to utilize funds allocated by the Center, but he didn’t limit himself to just highlighting this issue. He has also taken the responsibility of returning the money

that was stolen through corruption to the people. PM has said that he is not someone who will give up so easily.

Modi made a scathing critique during the Krishnanagar meeting on Saturday, accusing the Trinamool Congress for engaging only in atrocities, corruption, betrayal, and nepotism.

The Trinamool government in Bengal consistently transforms every scheme into a scam. Modi quipped that TMC now signifies “Tu, Main aur Corruption.” Trinamool garnered votes in Bengal by championing their slogan “Ma Mati Manush,” yet due to their governance failures, the people of Bengal are now in distress, seeking a resolution. The Prime Minister further criticized the Trinamool government’s apparent agenda of perpetuating poverty among the people of Bengal.

Prime Minister Modi, speaking at a rally in Krishnanagar, accused the Trinamool government of Bengal alleging that they have mismanaged the public food distribution system and neglected the jute industry.

The Modi government has promised to provide free ration to impoverished individuals for five years, ensuring that this guarantee will be upheld. PM stated that while the people of Bengal initially placed high hopes in the Trinamool government, the past ten years haven’t yielded the desired results. He believes Bengal’s rich history and potential haven’t been fully utilized, leading to the state falling behind.

The BJP government has placed a special emphasis on the development of the communication system through railways in Bengal. These initiatives will improve connectivity, boost economic development, and improve the quality of life for the people of Bengal.

The Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of Bengal’s progress for the country’s advancement. However, the TMC government’s reluctance to support initiatives suggests a hindrance to Bengal’s development. Despite Modi’s ironic remarks and the Trinamool’s disruptive behavior, such as in the case of AIIMS construction in Kalyani, the Trinamool government contends that they were not consulted. This reflects their apparent aversion to positive undertakings, prioritizing their own interests over public welfare.Modi alleged that Mamata’s government prevented the commencement of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides discounts of up to five lakh rupees to poor people.Modi asserted that law and order in Bengal is compromised, with criminals dictating when they will be apprehended rather than the police enforcing timely arrests.

In this context, Modi asserted that despite the Trinamool government’s reluctance to arrest Shah Jahan in Sandeshkhali, the women, referred to as Maa Durgas by him, mobilized on the streets, pressuring the government to arrest Shah Jahan.

Though the Prime Minister’s message offered some encouragement, women in Sandeshkhali remained skeptic . They assert that mere communication from afar falls short. As they believe Prime Minister’s physical presence in Sandeshkhali is necessary for truly addressing their concerns.

The women of Sandeshkhali had previously expressed their desire for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to visit their area, but as she hasn’t, they are placing their trust in Prime Minister Modi, hoping for his personal visit to hear their concerns directly.

Despite Modi’s sarcastic attack on the Trinamool, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at Raj Bhavan on Friday evening. Following the meeting, Mamata told reporters that her statements would remain within the realm of politics, emphasizing the purely courteous nature of the encounter.

However, Trinamool spokesperson Shantanu Sen stated on Saturday that it doesn’t reflect well when a party’s top leader criticizes another while their own party is embroiled in nepotistic practices.
