অর্পিতা বনিক, বনগাঁ: দেশবাসী যখন ১৫ই অগাস্ট ৭৭তম স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালন করল, তখন বনগাঁ এলাকা অপেক্ষায় ছিল আরও তিনদিন। এখানে ১৮ই অগাস্ট প্রকৃত স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালনের দিন। ভারত স্বাধীন হয়েছিল ১৫ই অগাস্ট। কিন্তু রীতি মেনে ভারতের স্বাধীনতা দিবসের ৩ দিন পর ১৮ই অগাস্ট স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালন করা হয় উত্তর ২৪ পরগনার সীমান্ত লাগোয়া বনগাঁর কিছু অংশে। পতাকা উত্তোলনের মধ্য দিয়ে, এই দিনটিতেই স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালন করে আসছেন তাঁরা। জানা যায়, স্বাধীনতার বছর থেকেই সেই ঐতিহ্য চলে আসছে আজও ৷
কেন তিনদিন পর স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালন করেন এই এলাকার মানুষ? জানা যায়, তৎকালীন পরাধীন ভারতের ভাইসরয় লর্ড মাউন্টব্যাটেন ১৯৪৭ সালের ১২ই অগাস্ট ঘোষণা করেছিলেন ভারতবর্ষকে ১৫ই অগাস্ট স্বাধীনতা দেওয়া হবে। দেখুন ভিডিও
তৎকালীন ব্রিটিশ আধিকারিক সাইরিন রাডক্লিফের তৈরি ভারতের মানচিত্রে বাংলার কিছু অংশ থেকে গিয়েছিল খানিকটা বিতর্কিত অবস্থায়। বিশেষত, বাংলার উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা, নদিয়া, সহ মালদার হিন্দু জনসংখ্যা অধ্যুষিত এলাকা তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তান বা বর্তমান বাংলাদেশের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে গিয়েছিল। পরবর্তী সময়ে, এর ফলে কিছুটা বিরোধিতার মুখে পড়তে হয় ব্রিটিশ শাসকদের। এই বিরোধিতা এতটাই চরম পর্যায়ে গিয়ে পৌঁছয় যে, শেষমেষ দ্বিতীয় বার মাউন্টব্যাটেন নতুন করে মানচিত্র তৈরি করার পরামর্শ দেন।
তিনি স্পষ্ট জানান, হিন্দু সম্প্রদায় মানুষদের ভারতের অংশ হিসেবে এবং সংখ্যালঘু সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষদের পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে অর্থাৎ বর্তমান বাংলাদেশে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করতে হবে। স্থানীয় এক আইনজীবী বলেন, ‘সম্পূর্ণ বিষয়টি সম্পন্ন হয় ১৭ই অগাস্ট রাতে। ফলে এখানকার মানুষের কাছে ভারতবর্ষের স্বাধীনতা পাওয়ার খবর ১৮ই অগাস্ট এসে পৌঁছয়। তাই সেই দিনই ওই সমস্ত এলাকায় পালিত হয় স্বাধীনতা দিবস। তাই এদিন বনগাঁ মহকুমা আদালতে স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালিত হল’।
ইতিহাসের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, ১৯৪৭ সালের ১৭ই অগাস্ট মধ্যরাতে বনগাঁ মহকুমার বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকাকে ভারতের অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়। তারপরই, ১৮ই অগাস্ট ১৯৪৭ সালে বনগাঁ প্রশাসনিক ভবনে প্রথম ভারতের জাতীয় পতাকা ওঠে। সেই দিন থেকে এখনও এই ১৮ই অগাস্ট স্বাধীনতা দিবস হিসেবে পালন করে আসছেন বনগাঁ মহকুমা আদালতের আইনজীবীরা।
আদালত চত্বরে অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্যে দিয়ে আইনজীবীরা জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করেন। ল’ ইয়ার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন, বার অ্যাসোসিয়েশন সঙ্গে যুক্ত আইনজীবী, ল’ ক্লার্কসহ আদালতে আসা মানুষজন এদিনের এই অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দেন।

১৮ অগষ্ট নদিয়ার মাজদিয়ার তারক নগর শিবনিবাস প্রাইমারী স্কুল এলাকায় একই ভাবে স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে চুর্ণী নদীতে নৌকা বাইচের আয়োজন ছিল চোখে পড়ার মতো ৷ স্থানীয় মহিলারই মূলত এদিন অংশগ্রহণ করেন ৷
