The South Gallery 2 of the Academy of Fine Arts is currently home to a striking play of light and shadow, as Kolkata-born NRI and Artificial Intelligence expert Abhishek Sarkar presents his first solo photography exhibition. The week-long showcase, open to visitors until June 12, features an evocative series of low-light, long-exposure images that explore the delicate interplay between nature, architecture, and urban life.

A resident of the United States and a senior professional at JP Morgan Chase, Sarkar is better known in the tech world for his AI expertise. Yet, through this exhibition, he reveals a deeply artistic facet—one shaped by patience, precision, and a distinct visual narrative. His photographs invite viewers into quiet, almost meditative moments captured through the lens, defying the haste of everyday life.

The exhibition was inaugurated by international photo artist Anupam Halder, who also serves as Joint Commissioner of Revenue, Government of West Bengal. Speaking at the event, Mr. Halder praised the young photographer’s unique aesthetic and technical brilliance:
“It’s inspiring to witness the high-quality photographic creations by Abhishek. As a fellow artist, it’s a joy to see his talent unfold in this space. I wish him continued success in his creative journey.”

Abhishek was joined at the event by his proud parents, Mr. Abhijit Sarkar and Professor Jayashree Mukherjee, both of whom have been pillars of support in his pursuit of photography alongside a demanding professional life abroad.

The exhibition has already begun attracting interest from art lovers, photographers, and curious visitors alike. It not only showcases Abhishek’s talent but also reflects Kolkata’s enduring tradition of nurturing creative expression across generations and geographies.

Those with an eye for detail, emotion, and light are encouraged to explore this compelling collection at the Academy of Fine Arts before the curtains fall on June 12.
